The Ottawa Artisans Guild is the premier multi-disciplinary arts and crafts guild in the nation’s capital.
To promote arts and crafts within the City of Ottawa.
Founded in 1974 as the Gloucester Craftsmen’s Guild, its purpose was to promote arts and crafts within the city of Gloucester.
As the city expanded, became part of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa and then was amalgamated into the current City of Ottawa, the mission never changed, only expanded its area of operations.
In 2007 the membership decided to change the name to reflect the current reality.
The Ottawa Artisans Guild is a not for profit corporation registered in the Province of Ontario.
From the beginning, members acknowledged that something tangible must be done to reflect our position in the community. Accordingly, admittance fees were never required to attend a Guild market but rather donations of cash or non-perishable food items were requested, with the proceeds being donated to the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard.
