Trish Nevin, who succumbed to her battle with cancer in May 2008, was a long time member of the Ottawa Artisans Guild who has a tremendous impact on it and its members.
She helped write the majority of the standards now in effect and was the Jury Committee Coordinator for many years. Her attention to detail helped gauramtee the Guild’s reputation for excellent work.
Trish was known particularly for her Bears. Many of the bears were made from old fur coats and became family treasures. She was also an accomplished water colour miniaturist.
She was a major asset to the guild and will be sorely missed. Her energy, optimism, cheerfulness and positive outlook stood her well in life and helped carry her through her fight. Her life is an example we should all attempt to follow.
At every market, the Guild participants vote for the booth that they think best promotes the members’s work. In Trish’s memory, this award will be known as the Trish Navin Best Booth Award.
At our Fall Market, Cecil Nevin, Trish’s husband, was on hand to innaugurate the award by presenting it to Anita Cole-Brunger.
