ARTISAN: Claire Anne Sabourin
BUSINESS: The Dancing Raven’s Stones and Wire
I was born in August 2, 1953 in Sorel, Québec and always had a love for all creative media. I was inspired by my great cousin who was a wire artist, working in gold wire, a seamstress working in theatre costume and a fine needle worker. Admiring wirework most of all, I decided to work in silver, my favourite precious metal, whether Sterling or Fine.
I am self taught and like to work in chainmaille, Viking knit, hammer work, wire weaving, Egyptian coils, triple coiling, wire wrapping, wire sculpture and many other ancient jewellery making techniques, creating unique designs along the way. I get inspiration from history and art styles and draw my designs in my head for a few days until I find the perfect way to create them.
I enjoy custom designing and constantly incorporate new techniques to create new designs. I am most partial to nature themed designs, chainmaille and retro styles and I always use completely natural stones accordingly to the jewellery industry.
