Susan’s jewellery collections are all unique, one-of-a-kind, timeless treasures of heirloom quality which may be worn for many years. Her work includes pendants, necklaces, brooches, earrings and bracelets. A large part of her work is hand-sculpted from silver or gold art clay which, when fired in a kiln, becomes 99.9% pure silver or 22k gold. Her pure silver pieces reflect her diverse interests – appreciation of the human form, animals, nature and style. She also creates elegant and sophisticated fine jewelry using semi-precious gemstones and pearls. She cuts and polishes her own gemstones for incorporation into her work. Quality materials and attention to detail are important to her.

Susan has experienced the wonderful world of clay for many years – sculpting the human form as well as creating functional and non-functional works with fired clays and polymers. Susan has been creating and sculpting with silver and gold art clay since the mid 1990’s when it first became available in North America. She is a certified instructor and teaches in her studio. Susan also carves in stone (soapstone and alabaster), creates with glass, and does figure drawing and painting. Susan has participated in many juried competitions and shows. Photographs of her silver/ gold creations have appeared in various metalworks publications. She frequently is asked to take on special commissions.

Susan has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters degree. She has participated in international and national programs and courses and studied under many world renowned artists in sculpture, figure drawing, jewellery design, silversmithing, wire wrapping, glass techniques, cutting and polishing semi-precious gemstones, enameling on metals, creating with clays, and painting on porcelain. She considers herself to be a life-long student. Susan is a member of the Shenkman’s Art Centre, North American Art Clay Society, National Capital Network of Sculptors, the Ottawa Artisan’s Guild, and lapsmith and mineral clubs in Ontario.
